Riding through the scenic routes of Maharashtra is always a delight, and the journey from Pune to Tamhini Ghat is nothing short of magical. If you’re a Motoverse rider looking for an unforgettable experience filled with twists, turns, and nature’s beauty, this ride needs to be on your bucket list.

The Start: Pune’s Bustling Morning

The ride kicked off early in the morning from Pune, where the city was just waking up. As the sun peeked over the horizon, my bike roared to life, and the excitement was palpable. Gearing up with my riding jacket, gloves, and helmet, the Motoverse spirit kicked in—ride safe, ride free.

The Route: Scenic and Thrilling

The route from Pune to Tamhini Ghat covers approximately 70 kilometers and is ideal for both experienced riders and beginners. Taking the route via Paud Road, the initial stretch offers a smooth ride with light city traffic. Once you cross Mulshi Lake, the real adventure begins.

The roads start to twist, and the lush greenery envelopes you from all sides. Monsoon season transforms this stretch into a paradise with misty hills, small waterfalls by the roadside, and the smell of wet earth filling the air.

The Ride Experience: Biker’s Delight

The climb towards Tamhini Ghat is a test of skill and control. Sharp turns, elevation changes, and narrow roads keep you alert, making it the perfect playground for thrill-seekers. The highlight? The sudden mist that rolls in, making visibility low but the experience even more thrilling.

Pro Tip: Ensure your bike is well-serviced, and your brakes are in top condition for this ride, as the slopes can be steep.

Pit Stops: Breathtaking Views & Local Chai

Halfway through, we made a pit stop at Mulshi Dam. The serene lake, coupled with the mountains, was the perfect backdrop for a quick photo session and some much-needed hydration. A small roadside tea stall served piping hot chai and pakoras—a classic combination for any bike ride.

The Destination: Tamhini Ghat

Finally reaching Tamhini Ghat felt rewarding. The panoramic views of the Western Ghats, endless greenery, and the sound of waterfalls created a surreal atmosphere. Sitting on the edge of the cliff, soaking in the beauty, it felt like time slowed down.

Activities to Explore:

• Exploring nearby waterfalls

• Relaxing at the eco-resorts around Mulshi

The Return Ride: Reflecting on the Journey

Riding back to Pune as the sun began to set was equally mesmerizing. The golden hues painted the sky as the hills turned orange, making the descent feel poetic.
